Fairtrade is a worldwide organisation helping marginalised producers in developing countries, to move towards economic self-sufficiency and stability on a sustainable basis.
As an organised social movement with a marketing-based approach, Fairtrade facilitates more than one million producers, workers and their dependants in 50 countries to benefit from Fairtrade labeled products.
In 2005 Origin Wines in conjunction with the farming communities of Du Toitskloof and the Du Toitskloof winery, formed the Fairhills project, which ensured that the 22 farms contributing to the winery were Fairtrade accredited, making it one of the largest Fairtrade projects globally.
Fairhills will continue with the upliftment of the Du Toitskloof community in the future, thanks to our Fairtrade project and our Fairhills label.
